At Village Church, we have a place for middle schoolers in 5th, 6th, and 7th grades! Our Middle School Ministry meets on Sunday mornings at 11:00 in the sanctuary for worship, and then they move to their class right after worship. Plus, our middle schoolers also meet on the first and third Wednesday evening of each month at 6:30.
Here, middle school kids will learn how to read the Bible for themselves and apply its principles to their everyday lives. Lesson by lesson, they will be encouraged to use these principles and truths to become disciples of Jesus and realize their significance as children of God.
Our Middle School Ministry is led by Matt and Melissa Hargrove, who have a heart for teaching kids about the love of Jesus and helping them realize their importance to Him.
Matt and Melissa have three biological children, and they are currently in the process of adopting their current foster care placement, an adorable 4-year-old boy.
The Hargroves began building this middle school ministry at Village Church in the summer of 2017. When asked why they felt led to develop this program, the Hargroves responded, "We believe that children are a gift from God, and they're never too young to study His Word and be used to bring Him honor and glory. We want to share the fullness of life that these middle schoolers, and anyone, can have through knowing Jesus."
The Hargroves are a very active family! Matt works full time at Synovus in the IT department and part time as a Level 4 kayak instructor at ACE Kayaking School through Outside World of Columbus. Melissa works full time homeschooling their kids and also part time at Whitewater Express. The Hargroves also run an organic food co-op and are often found doing something outside together.
